Welcome to Tualatin Together’s December Newsletter. In this edition you will find information about our monthly coalition meeting, National Impaired Driving Awareness Month, an invitation from LEAP Youth Alliance to a community event, a recap of the November coalition meeting and more!
LEAP’s December Focus
December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month.
LEAP has an activity a day planned during the week of 12/9 to help educate their classmates on the harms of impaired driving. Impaired Driving is 100% preventable.
With a recent tragedy in our school community this message comes at a good time. Impaired Driving occurrences are up 65% in Oregon in 2024 according to ODOT. To learn more about the laws and ways you can talk about safe choices for yourself or your loved ones click on the link below.
PumpkinPalooza 2024
In November Tualatin Together was able to partner with Byrom and Bridgeport Elementary School’s to share our PumpkinPalooza social emotional learning curriculum. At our coalition meeting and during one of LEAP’s meetings, they did the 2nd grade activity called, “Growing Our Gratitude.”
Participants wrote something they were grateful for at home, in their classroom (or business, etc.), at school in general and chose a defining statement of, “I am…”. Some of the things we heard from LEAP were: kind; funny; empathetic; family focused; awesome and more!
